Child Psychiatry

​At the division of Child Psychiatry patients are directed to the appropriate examination or care unit based on urgency and existing information. The Assessment and Acute Care Unit offers assessment of need for and method of treatment and short-term treatment; long-term treatment is carried out at the units for anxiety and mood disorders, neuropsychiatry and problems with behavioral control, and the psychiatric ward for young children.

The General Hospital Psychiatry Unit offers child psychiatric assessments and treatments for children under the care of other children and adolescents divisions. Examinations regarding assaults on children and child sexual exploitation are conducted at the Forensic Child and Adolescents Psychiatry Unit. There are appointment operations in different units in different parts of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area; ward operations are centralized at the Children’s Castle (Hospital).
