Critically or severely ill children are treated in the K9 Pediatric Intensive care unit. The age range of the patients is from infancy up to 16 years. The unit is the only pediatric ICU in the HUS area. The unit provides intensive care to children who have undergone cardiac surgery or an organ transplantation. In Finland these operations are exclusively performed in the Children's Hospital.
