The HUCH Hospital Area attends to the specialist healthcare of more than a million people within the Helsinki region. The municipalities that make up the hospital area are Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kerava, Kirkkonummi and Kauniainen.
The coordination of the service provision is divided between four HUCH profit units: medicinal, operative, gynecology and paediatric care, and psychiatry.
Nationwide, HUCH has responsibility for organ transplants, demanding neurosurgery, surgery on clef lip and palate patients, and for treating severe burns. The 17 HUCH hospitals act as training centers and provide excellent surroundings for both national and international research projects.
